Responsibilities

The Director- Software Engineering for C.H. Robinson’s European Surface Transportation (EST) division will plan and execute a technology roadmap to meet the overall vision for EST and achieve business objectives. In this position, you will be leading a team of software engineering leaders, software engineers, engineering product managers, quality assurance, and support who are responsible for developing new and enhancing existing Citrix and web-based applications. The team is located in Warsaw (PL), Amsterdam (NL), and Eden Prairie (US) as well as other remote locations

As a member of the technology leadership team, you will have the opportunity to impact the logistics industry by providing our internal users, customers, carriers, and vendors with innovative technology to automate their supply chain process. As C.H. Robinson continues to grow and remain the top third-party logistics company in the world, the ideal candidate will have proven success developing, launching, and enhancing multiple applications and is able to lead a team to successful execution. 

This position is located at our European Headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands or in our European Technology Hub in Warsaw, Poland and can be remote part time.  

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with Director of Operations who leads setting the vision, prioritization, and direction of technology road map.  
  • Partner with Manager for Digital Connectivity (EDI, API, etc.) to ensure both teams are delivering maximum value for the division
  • Partner with the European Infrastructure Manager to support the business
  • Partner, consult and collaborate with a variety of technology and business stakeholders to set the strategy for creating and launching new features in alignment of future goals.
  • Plan, organize, assign responsibilities, and monitor to achieve project successes
  • Communicate, enforce, and integrate development best practices and technology standards that are set from Enterprise Architecture.
  • Coordinate inner sourcing developments with the different Navisphere capabilities to evaluate issues and make key technical decisions for their respective capability area. 
  • Lead the development of automated quality assure regression testing.  
  • Cultivate a high performing team by building skills through coaching, mentoring and ongoing training and development.
  • Create and manage team budgets and consult on overall technology budget.
  • Deliver technology solutions to quickly integrate post M&A
  • Build relationships with teams located in different geographies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in information technology field
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in people management 
  • Experience with application development teams building critical proprietary software
  • Experience working in an agile environment to deliver software
  • Able to travel approximately 15%
  • High level of proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Proven ability to succeed with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative under ambiguous circumstances
  • The ideal applicant for this job will have substantial experience leading large, complex, cross-functional initiatives at the enterprise level, with a focus on technology and product development.
