Supply Chain Engineer

In this Solution Engineer role, you are responsible for supporting the development and implementation of logistics (transportation) solutions. This is a consultative role that requires analytical, process design, presenting and reporting skills. You will support the Account Manager with understanding customer challenges, and analyzing data to create optimization scenarios, future state processes, implementation plans, and reporting.
When projects are confirmed, you will manage the project implementation resources from various cross functional teams, from project conception to post-go-live care. You will typically work on 2-5 projects in parallel, for the duration of 1-6 months.
You will be part of a Branch which is specialized in delivering high end customer solutions within the European Surface Transportation division, based in Amsterdam. You will report to the Branch Manager of this team.
What will you do?
Engage the customer in constructive discussions and help develop ideas and roadmaps to support the future state vision of their supply chain
Analyze customer (transportation) data sets and processes to create dashboards, reports and summaries of the customer’s supply chain
Create transportation optimization scenarios to calculate performance, efficiency, and emission footprint improvement potential
Understand existing reports, and develop additional custom reports using business knowledge and/or by leveraging a subject matter expert from the business
Create as-is and to-be process maps and documentation to support the development of the solution and implementation
Create presentation material and documents to demonstrate the solution and future state concepts
Support customer meetings with in-depth process and data discovery, and present the solution and analysis outcomes
Create project schedules, transition and implementation plans, in collaboration with resources from multiple cross-functional teams
Track the progress of projects, and report out to the customer and internal stakeholders, including senior management
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Supply Chain or Business-related studies
3-4 years of experience in supply chain solutions, operational excellence, process improvement or reporting & analytics
Strong Microsoft SQL knowledge (at least 2-3 years of hands on experience)
Analytical mindset and passion for discovering insights in the data
Project Management experience is a plus
VBA / Python or R skills are a plus, and eagerness to learn one of the latter two is strongly preferred
Eagerness to develop and learn from others
Open-mindedness to different ways of working
Self-starter, innovator, and positive team player with ability to work with little or no supervision
