The Gateway Agent is responsible for executing all size or types of consolidations both import and exports. They are a role model of knowledge, experience, hard work ethic, supporter of business goals and objectives with excellent customer service skills and professionalism. The Gateway Agent is a subject matter expert and ensures all requests & requirements are met and answered accurately and timely. They are accountable for all aspects of the Gateway workflow as well as both their individually assigned and team consolidations, daily communication, reporting, and email management.
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain Operational Excellence:
Understand the processes, documentation, and terminology involved in international shipping from time of purchase order issuance through the delivery of the cargo
Initiate, prepare, process and assemble all required documentation for air import and export consol shipments
Raise and maintain appropriate ETSF records and files in line with HMRC requirements.
Ensure all files are compliant with CAA regulations where applicable.
Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed and released to the carrier, customers or agents in a timely manner
Apply industry knowledge and critical thinking to adapt processes/create solutions in response to challenges both internally and externally
Execute/Coordinate tasks to meet all SOP requirements
Create, maintain, and update shipments in internal system, ensuring accurate data
Coordinate and problem-solve on complex consolidations
Ensure a high-level of data integrity within the shipments
Act as a key contact to and communicate clearly, timely, and effectively with CHR offices, Agents, and Outside Vendors,
Promote a positive working relationship for all team members
Act as a resource and expert to the department, branch, and network on consolidation requirements & process initiatives
Ensure SOPs are maintained and adhered to
Make recommendations to improve or implement technology solutions to recognize efficiencies and improve net revenue
Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements
Minimum 3-5 years of Global Forwarding industry experience.
Ability to work flexible hours and/or days
Strong prioritization, multi-tasking skills, and high level of flexibility as priorities and needs change daily,
Critical-thinking, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to adapt to ever-changing tasks and customer needs
High level of attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven office environment
Proactive, ambitious, hardworking, and analytical mindset
Knowledge of both Import and export procedures, Ideally in a Gateway environment.
Knowledge or coursework in Supply Chain, Logistics, or International Business
Values a diverse and inclusive work environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
