The Commercial Marketing Director will lead the overall marketing strategy for C.H. Robinson’s largest division, North American Surface Transportation (NAST).In this critical leadership position, you will achieve success by focusing on marketing strategy and execution, enterprise research and insights, external market intelligence and lead management to connect marketing initiatives with business goals. You will build and develop strong relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders at varying levels; effectively partner and collaborate in order to deliver value on key marketing strategies and initiatives and lead cross functional teams to achieve results.This position reports to the Vice President of Global Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop commercial marketing strategy to leverage enterprise research and insights, lead management and NAST Marketing to drive awareness, relevancy, and business growth with both customer and carrier audiences.

  • Direct marketing resources across all functions in alignment with commercial marketing goals and initiatives.

  • Lead implementation of commercial marketing strategy including messaging development, demand generation through marketing channels, campaigns, events, and content development.

  • Reinvent and implement lead management strategies and processes for inbound and outbound that advance sales efforts and maximize results from marketing investments.

  • Oversee and make recommendations on research and market intelligence strategies and processes that can be leveraged by commercial network to drive positive change and business growth.

  • Incorporate commercial marketing best practices and adapt strategy as necessary while maintaining alignment with key stakeholders and key initiatives of the organization.

  • Establish and measure ROI for commercial marketing efforts and investments.

  • Maintain P&L ownership for commercial marketing budget; ensure business goals are met with greatest efficiency.

  • Cultivate a high performing team by building skills through coaching, mentoring and ongoing training and development.

  • Select, develop, and evaluate team members to ensure the effectiveness and alignment with current and future goals and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • 10 years’ marketing experience required; commercial marketing, B2B and/or service marketing experience preferred.

  • Experience in the transportation, logistics or supply chain industry preferred.

  • Strong financial acumen; experience owning and managing a budget; understands concept of incrementality.

  • Proven success building and executing commercial marketing strategies that bring significant value and results to the business.

  • Proven success leading teams on impactful enterprise- level projects involving multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and professional executive presence.

  • Able to effectively influence and partner with multiple stakeholder groups at all levels; able to effectively navigate complex and competing interests of multiple stakeholders.

  • Organizational savvy with proven ability to drive results in a cross-functional, matrixed organization.

  • Critical thinking ability; independently identify problems, propose solutions and execute.

  • Broad industry perspective, strong network of external marketing professionals, connected to the external marketing community.

  • Ability to implement standard metrics to gauge activity and ROI.

  • Demonstrated success managing and developing teams, building succession plans and creating plans for future growth.

  • Ability to travel up to 15%
