Manager Software Engineering (Machine Learning)

That’s because global markets face historically tight capacity constraints, volatility, and pandemic-related disruption, along with one off situations like extreme weather conditions. As a key factor in easing this congestion, we need global scale marketplace technology. Come join our machine learning team who are moving boldly into the future to increase efficiencies and agility for our customers.

C.H. Robinson is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to build and manage our transactional engineering team. This team will be cross-disciplinary and include software engineers, data engineers, machine learning engineers, cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, and product managers. This team will be critical in ensuring we increase the velocity with which our data science and engineering teams bring R&D projects from data understanding to deploying models in production.

We have an established data science program that continues to power decision making and automation. Your experience and expertise is critical for us to meet our customer demands. We’re looking for someone who:

Collaborates with architects, product managers, data scientists, and engineers and support team members to bring big data R&D projects from discovery phases into production by leveraging the following technologies (not all inclusive and subject to change):

  • Python, R

  • Kafka, RSMQ   

  • Airflow/Astronomer 

  • Snowflake, PostgreSQL,

  • Redis  

  • MongoDB  

  • Elastic Search  

  • Azure ML

  • Docker and Kubernetes

  • Has 8+ years of experience successfully designing, driving implementation of, rolling out and evangelizing distributed highly reliable and scalable frameworks

  • Has experience leading software engineering teams and working closely with product managers, data engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists

  • Deeply understand the Data Science Life Cycle

  • Is passionate about identifying areas of improvement and driving best practices

  • Is comfortable communicating complex ideas effectively and understand tradeoffs in achieving product goals

  • Values a diverse and inclusive work environment

  • Has a Master’s degree or equivalent work experience
