Senior Manager Automation Solutions
Location United States Remote
Do you have a track record of building high performing teams and executing business strategy and planning? Have you successfully implemented process automation to make your team more effective and efficient? If so, your expertise would be a great fit for our Senior Manager, Automation Solutions role where you will be accountable to leverage internal and external partners to develop and deploy automation solutions in support of our World Class Operations strategy. You will collaborate with the Operational Excellence team, Project Management Office, and business owners to actively support the automation of business processes. You will create and manage the North American Surface Transportation Automation opportunity and deployment pipeline in alignment with business strategy roadmaps and goals, ensuring the execution is done in accordance with IT, Business Analytics and Operational Excellence to meet business needs without disrupting business or IT system flow/operability or information security. In addition, in this exciting opportunity, you will facilitate the connectivity, effectiveness, and capability improvement of our internal automation programming network within the branch network to leverage and scale our talent and solutions as appropriate.
Our main priority continues to be the health and safety of our employees. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position will be remote until further notice. We will continue monitoring the circumstances and when we feel comfortable, this position will return to office, preferably in Eden Prairie, MN, Kansas City, MO, Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage the North American Surface Transportation automation opportunity and deployment pipeline.
- Facilitate and ensure collaboration of our automation resources to leverage the innovative work across multiple branches and regions and ensure their results are in compliance with IT and business protocols.
- Actively manage risk to our customers, carriers, employees, and business processes.
- Gather requirements independently with business SMEs, assess automation opportunity and technical feasibility and provide solutions from an automation or other applicable technology perspective.
- Effectively communicate requirements and design to internal and external automation developers for solution. Define automation development standards, create Technical Design documents, set automation SLA’s, and standardize automation reporting processes.
- Effectively communicate with SMEs, managers and team for status, metrics, and issues on a regular basis. Propose automated solutions maximizing robot utilization, addressing security and performance concerns, and creating reusable code components.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and system performance management.
- Establish and report-out to executive leadership the automation goals and measures for the team to track performance in implementing projects on time, meeting established costs and performance criteria.
- Develop future leaders by focusing on career development and exposure to the right levels of leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience and strong track record building and leading high-performing teams within a service industry.
- Deep strategic and tactical experience in complete end to end lifecycle of identifying, designing, deploying and maintaining automated processes.
- Ability to travel up to 25% (domestically and internationally).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering or Information Technology.
- Experience solving complex business challenges with rapidly emerging technologies and process improvement.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document and explain business processes and automated solution design.
- Ability to build strong relationships and consensus; work cross functionally to bring tasks to completion.
- Highly analytical with the ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of stakeholders in a simple and concise manner; strong listener as well as presentation skills that can tell the story and connect to your audience.
- Previous change management experience and comfortable working in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to build, lead and contribute to a high performing team.
