Product Development Manager

The Product Development Manager is the lead person responsible for managing and coordinating regional trade development between EU and North America. The remit is to support sales development within the Branch network and Branch sales teams, focused on developing new and existing house accounts and regional corporate accounts related to the Europe/Transatlantic trade/route. The position is to be seen as a “multiplier”, working with all areas of the region to generate awareness and focus around the named trade.

This role supports our European Global Forwarding business and will focus on the following areas:

Coordinate and drive initiatives. You, in collaboration with your US based Route Development counterparts lead the day to day sales activities as it relates to identifying opportunities, driving focus and reporting on progress and challenges. You work with the local European sales teams, our Global network and own potential clients to discover and assess business requirements and critical buying criteria.

You facilitate conference calls between the various teams weekly, monthly and quarterly. You provide management summaries to the sales teams and leadership. For larger opportunities you will directly contribute to the solution design analysis and help research the customer’s supply chain needs in detail in order to provide a custom solution. You will work with supply chain and technology specialists to document the customer’s specific situation and lead or assist in presenting the proposed logistics solution. The position will cover Germany and Austria with the candidate sitting in either one of these countries.


· Work with local and regional management to develop sales strategies, target lists, and volume growth for Air & Ocean to and from USA

· Communicate and ensure execution of strategies by working with local and regional sales resources and overseas counterparts

· Visit key regional offices on a quarterly basis to promote the trade lane and join sales calls with local sales resources

· Make recommendations of strategic nature to ensure sustained growth of C.H. Robinson market share on identified traffic lanes

· Provide market specific training/awareness to all local sales resources and concerned regional staff

· Communicate market specific news to all sales staff

· Actively participate in product enhancements/developments and pricing discussions

· Report to the Director Product Development on the overall progress of the program including, challenges, action plans, volume developments etc.

Required Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5 years’ Sales industry experience within Global freight forwarding (Air & Ocean)

· Knowledge of the logistics industry, solution design, and supply chain as it relates the Europe & US is preferred

· Proven ability to create and coordinate comprehensive Trade lane programs is a plus

· Ability to think creatively and strategically

· Fluent in German

Preferred Qualifications:

· Pro-active, detail oriented and inquisitive

· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
